Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main components I'll use for a standard repair?
The powder and drops are the primary materials used for most dings. These two items create a quick, strong, and permanent repair.
How many dings can one kit fix?
Each kit can fix around 25–30 average-sized dings, based on our testing. Smaller dings might use less product, so you could get more repairs, while larger dings might use more, meaning fewer repairs per kit.
To keep your ding kit fresh, store the drops in a cool, dry place and seal the bottles tightly after each use.
Can I use this kit on epoxy surfboards?
No. Rudy's Instant Ding Repair Kit is not suitable for epoxy surfboards. The formula is designed specifically for polyurethane (PU) boards and may damage epoxy materials. Please check your board type before use.
How long does it take to dry?
The mixture dries in seconds — no sun or special conditions needed. You can get back in the water immediately after sanding and smoothing the area.

What are the cloth and foam for?
The recycled fiberglass cloth and foam offcuts are included for larger, deeper dings or small creases. They help reinforce the repair and reduce the amount of powder needed.
Do I need any tools or extra materials?
No — everything you need is included in the kit. But we do recommend having a damp cloth or paper towel on hand to wipe away any excess drops during the repair. You might also find a pen knife useful for cutting or opening up a ding before filling, especially for shallower cracks.
Are instructions included?
Yes, there is an instruction manual in every kit. You can also view the complete instructions for all ding and craft types.
Can I travel with the kit?
Yes — our kit is compact, lightweight, and travel-friendly, making it perfect for surf trips and strike missions.
There are no hazardous materials in the small quantities included that would typically cause issues in checked luggage, and the components are well within standard airline limits. Just be sure to pack the drops in your checked bag, sealed tightly to avoid leaks.
Note: Airline and customs regulations can vary by country, so it's always a good idea to check with your airline or local authorities before flying.
Do I need to have previous experience with ding repairs?
No. It's quick, easy and mess free. Simply follow the included instructions and safety precautions, and try to avoid touching the liquid drops.
